“For all the time that he has been trying to say that he is different, a different Kevin, a new Kevin, all he does is reinforce the old Kevin,”

It’s misogyny pure and simple Simon and this is all the loyalty she gets after she’s just announced a sincere sorry to all the wayward gals from the past. What will the misogyny maidens think of all this?
Perhaps it’s time she said she is sorry to the Australian electorate for all the time she has wasted as an incompetent Prime Minister. At the same time Kevin Rudd has demonstrated his lack of spine. This might have been his last chance. We can only wonder what we can expect at the next election.
Rudd’s taunting them now Bernie and that ‘man of my word’ line is a dagger right through Gillard’s heart. He’s there for the long haul, to dance on the Union/Labor rats’ political graves and refashion the party after the next election.
He does represent the side of the obvious schism that wants to place the union slushfunders and thugs at arms length from the Labor Party once and for all. He’s reading from Howard’s political manual now.
“At the same time Kevin Rudd has demonstrated his lack of spine. This might have been his last chance.”
I don’t believe Rudd lacked spine because he and his reform faction would have known two things. Firstly they didn’t have the numbers and secondly, short of a miracle or 3 or 4 Tampas they’ll be facing an Abbott led Govt after September.
Now whether Crean was part of it or just a useful idiot, they’ve locked Labor firmly into the September train wreck with Gillard, Swan, Conroy, Smith, Emerson and the misogyny maidens and the inevitable recriminations and cleanout thereafter. The current cabinet resigners falling in with the Rudd faction are nailing their colours to the mast for that eventuality.
As well by Rudd not challenging now, the waverers in the party couldn’t seek any refuge in a third compromise candidate like Shorten so Gillard it was unopposed. Rudd with a quadruple bypass is not beyond him as we’ve already seen with Howard and he’s been learning what it’s all about. Don’t discount the learning by doing as most of us did when the Libs brought back Howard with the quad bypass and we all thought the Libs were barking mad and would be in Opposition for another decade.
Labor urgently needs to distance itself from undemocratic union power and Rudd now sees himself as the man to do that and settle some old scores at the same time. In that sense he now has their heads on the electoral chopping block right where he wants them all.
How was that timing on the doorstep as the nation watched and the media scrum fell silent with their mikes and that ‘I am a man of my word’(who do you trust?)and the dagger through the witches heart and her coven. Shakespeare would have been proud and so would Howard. The naive idealist is learning what it’s all about and the blade is being tempered for the many battles ahead.
You misinterpreted us completely and really jumped the gun Simon. No I didn’t. I understood you perfectly and you lot squibbed it-

Kev: Never had the numbers, the party didn’t ask me overwhelmingly and I’m a man of my word unlike some we all know around here so what were you smoking Simon.
And as a man of my word I will never stand for the leadership of the Labor Party again but should they overwhelmingly ask me to be Leader well of course that’s a different matter…..?
I think if Gillard resigned and no one else stood for the leadership – then Rudd could say – “Well then”
