A gentler age, no worries about the weather being ‘angry’ no spin, good community values,
the world at peace and my Aunt and Uncle in Melbourne, teachers in the local schools…
A gentler age, well not so the hundreds of children being sexually abused by Catholic teachers & priests. A gentler age, well not so Aboriginals who were seen as second class citizens with less rights than whites.
A gentler age for rednecks in a backward time.
Oh God, don’t get me started!!
If only we could turn back time … long sigh.
Great pic.
Wes, judging from they are saying now, now, I would have thought that progressives like you would have loved the fifties. After all, in the fifties, among other things, (a) all major industries were fully unionised and wages and conditions were set on the basis of ‘social justice’ rather than productivity (b) tariffs and the White Australia policy protected ‘Aussie jobs’ from brown people and other foreigners (c) government services were delivered by dedicated public servants, not outsourced to ‘profiteers’ (d) money for education went only to public schools, not to those elitist private schools.
Wes, surely you, as a progressive, in favour of all of these things??

Every age has its bad side. (But not every child was abused, BTW just one is too many!)WW2 had left millions dead.Aboriginals had not had 8 billion dollars a year spent on them for little or no return as today. Whites did not want to be the rent-seekers of today by claiming Aboriginal heritage for the cash.
