Animal harm   9/2/2013

Oh, fergawdzakes! Is there any aspect of dinkum Australian culture that inner-suburban idiots don’t wish to wreck?

But the final nail in the coffin for the traditional country livestock sales may not be the march of technology but the animal welfare lobby. The RSPCA is pushing to have sheep and cattle sales held at country saleyards banned.

Dairies, shearing sheds, stockyards, stables, kennels – they will all have to join the queue if the beast cuddlers have their way.

Sometimes I wonder if people have a clue what they’re really voting for, and especially if they’re voting Labor or Greens.

How then are sheep and cattle sales supposed to take place? By e-bay? Or are they going to build stockyards in the Docklands? Ballarat is closing its long established stockyards and moving them to a new site at Miners Rest, but I can’t see the residents in those new housing developments tolerating the noise, the dust and the smell. It might be better to leave them where they are …

The RSPCA would be more helpful if they helped ease the overcrowding in peak-hour buses, trams and trains.Humans have needs too!

The RSPCA have gone the “full PETA” on this one.

I believe the appropriate phrase is “jumped the shark.”
