Alarm bells   10/1/2013

The ABC (Australian Bolshevik Collective?) hasn’t let a single opportunity pass in the current heatwave to flog its global warming dead horse.
If citizens took the ABC seriously, our farms would become deserts, our rivers would run dry and the elderly would drop like flies.
News flash, dummies: it’s summer and Australia sometimes endures extra hot spells during that season.
Alarmists would be better and more objectively employed by perusing the lastest forecasts from UK’s Met Office.

THERE will be no further warming of the planet’s surface over the next five years, Britain’s Met Office has forecast.
This downgrading of predictions for the effects of climate change mean that by 2017 it is projected there will have been no global increase in temperature for almost 20 years.

UPDATE:
Wayne Swan gets branded Goose, but pathetic Skyhooks impersonator and onetime Gillard bedmate Craig Emerson gives him a run for his money in the dopiness stakes.
Emerson is the latest of a string of alarmists to use the recent heatwave to whip up manmade global warming hysteria.
His article appeared in The Australian only centimetres from an editorial referring to the aforementioned UK Met office forecast.
Correspondents to The Oz are enjoying great sport with Emmo’s gullibility. Bet his harder-headed ministerial comrade, Martin Ferguson, is enjoying a chuckle at Emerson’s expense.

Time will tell who is right, at the moment summers are getting hotter, records are being broken for hot spells and for the hottest days on records. If things continue at this pattern those making the claims that our summers will produce deadlier heatwaves and bushfires are going to look right.

Time will tell who is right, this summer alone records have been broken across the nation for heatwaves and hottest days. This is also happening in other parts of the globe including the northern hemisphere when they are in summer. I’ll take the scientists anyday over hack’s like you Bernie or Andrew Bolt anyday. Those who go renewable withthe likes of solar care about the future of their children. Its more than obvious that people like Bolt have ve$ted interests supported by the likes of
Gina Rinehart. They only care about money and greed. People like you who obviously do not care what world you leave your grandchild.

Listening to the ABC1’s main nightly news bulletin on Monday night I was appalled to find myself watching tabloid TV for upteenth time. Catastrophic, extreme, super-storm and the clincher, the worst fire danger day in NSW history! Where does the rhetoric of fear end?

I understand completely the need to inform people about the real risk and danger, and to get the message out there, but if viewers can’t understand clear, concise statements like: there’s a very high fire danger risk in NSW tomorrow, then no amount of hysterical coverage is going to do the trick.

I get the distinct feeling from the obsessive and increasingly alarmist tone of reporting weather events that broadcasters like the ABC are trying to tell me something. And there’s always the inevitable and convenient – I’ve never seen anything like it – quote. On Monday night, one woman interviewed said that bush fires seem so much more intense these days. Hmm, I wonder what she was getting at?

Jack, what records have been broken?

This has been an exceptional heatwave but your comment re hottest days on record, etc needs commented upon.

Try running through the data for Jan 1939, Jan 1908 and Jan 1896 – the temperatures were at least equal to those of today. For instance, Bourke had 22 days of +40C in 1896, Sydney had its highest in 1939 and Melbourne had 5 days of +40C in 1908.

The heat in eastern Aust + southern Aust was greater on 10th Jan, 1939 than 7th Jan 2013.

Climate change models work on global data. At a global level temps are flat-lining and will for the forseeable future. A few degrees here or there in SE Aust are totally irrelevant. The problem was the wind combined with the wet season we had last year. It was a hot day but brief and run of the mill temperature wise for January.

I agree with Brian. I saw a kid about 22 interviewed on Nine and he said it was the worst fire he ever seen. I also think diversity in Aus popn. is causing big problems for ABC becoming ever more hysterical in its admonitions of gloom and danger.

It was the hottest day since records began the other for the nation as a whole, and Hobart had its hottest day since records began just the other day.

This will be more of a occurence each summer with much more catastrophic bushfires and heatwaves. But denialists like yourself Mr Slattery, will keep living in complete ignorance. Pity because on averages you’ll be long gone when the climate will heavily the affect the children of today and those yet to be born.

Don’t know how old Jack is, but I am well over 70 which enables me to remember the “cause” of unusual/unexpected/unforecast weather events in the late 40s and early 50s.

Then, everything was blamed on the bomb. The level of hysteria was much the same as it is now.

    Goodnight Jack.

Yeah, I, too, would like to know more about all these so-called broken temperature records and all this ‘history’ being made every time you turn on the TV. More often than not, it seems, that whenever you examine these claims more closely they don’t stand up. And even if they do, that’s not exactly proof that man-made emissions are responsible.

Therre’s not a single original idea, or indeed a single original phrase, in Jack’s diatribe. The only excuse for it is that he’s 17.

I’m a climate sceptic for seveal reasons. There’s the dodgy manipulation of data by climate ‘scientists’, the enormous amounts of public monies available to people who claim to believe in climate change and the various green industry scams. But basically I’m a doubter because, when you peel back the layers of warmist argument, you always end up with Jack’s type of sub-cerebral pop Marxism!

Now the ABC is all set to capitalise on all its hysterical, tabloid coverage of last week’s fire drama with a TV, radio and online series on – you guessed it – climate change, all this week.

Tell you what, Jodie, there were hotter days around here 5000-10,000 years ago when the most recently active of the SW Victorian volcanoes were bubbling along. The trouble in this era of mass-messaging is that young people are encouraged to respond emotionally to the environment, not rationally. Hence you have widespread sooking about matters once considered run-of-the-mill, from heatwaves to the slaughter of animals for food. If the greenies had been around 200 years ago the first settlers would never have left Sydney. “What, you’re going to build a road through the Blue Mountains? No way. You’re going to plant crops? Over my dead green body. You’re going to introduce sheep? Oh, the horror!”

Jodie, even if you were right, nothing we do or can do in Australia will have the slightest impact. All of us on the planet have just got to go with any change and adapt. Both the temperature and CO2 levels have been much higher in the distant past than they are now (not necessarily at the same time) yet our ancestors and the ancestors of all living creatures survived and prospered. Fighting any change is not possible. Australia can have no physical or even political impact on this, we’re totally irrelevant. Let’s try and survive rather than screwing our own country in a futile moral crusade.

    Hi Bernie,
History shows that is it not
“global warming” that will dominate the planet but “global cooling” with the “inevitable” occurence of another “Ice Age” which nearly 100% of scientists say will happen. Although some scientists warn Bernie, that it is looking certain the next “Ice Age” will be
    “man made”.

    Not from Coal but from
“Nuclear Weapons”.It is looking “inevitable” that a full scale “Middle Eastern” war will happen very soon involving Iran,Isreal & Syria that will trigger off catastrophic global calamity on a scale unprecedented. This will initially see tens of millions killed from global economic collapse & chaos. Its from this chaos, a full scale global thermonuclear war will happen.
    World War III.

Within 30 to 40 minutes of world powers launching their nuclear warheads, thousands of cities worldwide will be totally annihilated by over 5000 megatons of high yield blasts from these weapons. These blasts will instantly kill nearly 1/2 the worlds population in those urban areas that were targeted.

The unlucky ones will be those who survive in regional & rural areas, they will be the ones that will all suffer excruciating deaths from radiation sickness, starvation & subzero freezing temperatures brought upon the 5 million tonnes of soot, carbon & smoke blown into the stratosphere that will block out the suns light plummeting the earth into the “Nuclear Winter”, the most destructive man made climate change to ever happen. This will eventually destroy all animal life on the planet including all humans.

Anthropogenic Global Warming is “irrelevant”.Last year the Russians mobilised their nuclear arsenal in Western Russia in response to the NATO missie shield in Poland. China is rapidly expanding its forces & nuclear arsenal. The Russian PM even warned of “nuclear war” if nations like Syria or Iran are attacked by the west. Hostilities on the Korean peninsula have been rising. Both nuclear armed neighbours & enemies Pakistan & India have been fighting in Kashmir. Pakistan the worlds only nuclear armed Islamic nation is on the verge of becoming failed state overrun by Islamic extremists. The US is preparing to aggressively engage with China in the Asia/pacific region by sending more forces to the pacific region including Australia.

Any “stooge” can either preach or mock athropogenic global warming but when the proverbial does hit the fan with full scale massive conflicts in the Middle East, the subcontinent or the Korean peninsula start breaking out either brought upon by war or global economic meltdown(look at the US & European economies)then people will realise that this
“nuclear holocaust” alarmism preached by the likes of those who support nuclear weapon abolishment groups like ICAN such as Desmond Tutu,Yoko Ono,Jody Williams & even other activists like Gareth Evans &
Helen Caldicott, that this alarmism is the real threat to our childrens future. Its those who mock these people who are the real idiots. Because this destructive scenario is highly likely to happen. Just watch & see.

They used to have signs at the edge of left-leaning municipalities saying “Fitzroy is a Nuclear Free Zone”. Maybe they could bring them back with “Fitzroy is a Sceptic Free Zone” and pack the rest of off to gulags for rejecting the State line. Wouldn’t the ABC love that.

And wait for warming scepticism to be regarded as offensive under the Attorney-General’s new laws.

Noel is right. Yet morons support nuclear weaponary and nuclear energy. Mostly are right wing nutbag conservatives who support America’s ongoing corrupt wars and imperialistic hegemony in the Middle East & desire for war with nations like China & Russia. These lunatics are usually right wing nutters like the tea party with the likes of Sarah Palin & twits in OZ like Andrew Bolt & his supporters.

They hate the left & any of its peace corp groups such as those like ICAN or activitists like Yoko Ono or Gareth Evans or Helen Caldicott calling for strict measures to shut down the nuclear industry full stop, energy & weapons & also demand action on climate change. Yet these good folk get mocked by dirtbags on Fox & the likes of Bolt,O’Reilly & many conservative right wing nutters who obviously do not love their children or care about their future posed by the threat of climate change or much more serious threat of the filthy nuclear industry that makes those evil weapons they respect and admire. Truly sick & evil. Those who want the whole nuclear industry gone, energy & weapons are the ones with greater judgement & morals.
