Looks like Scrafton’s goose is cooked. About time, too. Seems he’s well into his second bottle of vino and ready to hose down Howard on the phone. Oops, bad move.

Scrafton volunteered that the private dinner at which he took the PM’s calls, involving one other person, a woman, was a two-bottle affair. He estimated the time between the first and second calls at 15-20 minutes, when it was in fact an hour and a half. Give Uncle a bottle of wine to polish off in an hour and you can still rely totally on the intelligence of my conversation and the accuracy of my memory. Not every duffer of my age is so fortunate, and so, charitably, let us assume that Mike Scrafton was a little the worse for wear by 10.00pm on the night of November 7th, 2001. His righteous pursuit of the PM is certainly in the gutter with the broken glass this afternoon.

Scrafton recollected 3 calls. The records show only two calls. Obviously the telephone records are lying!!
I guess the meedja will now be screeching at the Labor party for misleading the public. What, you don’t think so?
Howard said they only talked about the video whiwould have taken about 30 seconds max.
so what did they talk about for the other 9 and 1/2 minutes?
Way to miss the point, Homer. The issue is the collapse of Scrafton’s ‘total recall’. Clearly he didn’t recollect events as clearly as he would have had us all believe. Face it, we’ve got the:
1. The porno (it was for my daughter’s sake – yeah right)
2. The dodgy report to Bryant he subsequently claimed he had been too scared to fill in honestly.
3. The suddenly uncertain recollections from a night on the piste when he took the phone calls

4. Hokey claims that the ‘overboard’ incident was responsible for the bust up with ‘the mother of his children’.
This guy is rapidly turning into a liability for Ray’s Star Chamber.

Homer, you were the one who was big on the “balance of probabilities”, but now, not even you could still be saying that they are in Scraftons favour. You said in an earlier comment that only Howard fanatics could still believe him, well now its a matter of only a Howard-hater could still be believing Scrafton without question.
Your not the only one (especially in the blogosphere) to have been made look gullible by Scrafton, but I suppose there’s going to be a lot of people made to look fools before this election campaign is over.
