Slacking off 6/9/2012
Woo hoo! Joining the idle class at last. Thanks to a generous redundancy offer, I’m enjoying my last day today with News Ltd. It’s been a pleasure and privilege to work with such friendly, funny, knowledgeable and talented people for 26 years. First, a bit of a holiday, then the search begins for some part-time work.

Do you know the title of one of the best known doo-wop songs of the 1950s (recorded by The Silhouettes in October 1957, reaching the number one spot on the Billboard pop and R&B singles charts in February 1958)?? — Or the title of a 1993 George Thorogood song that includes the lyrics “I was a rebel from the day I left school, Grew my hair long and broke all the rules”
Well, I’ve got a job today – until knock-off time and I got a haircut yesterday . . . $32 it cost me! Won’t go there again.
Bernie – I am not sure what the appropriate wish is for an impending retirement. Is it “best wishes for stage III of life”?Whichever, I hope life continues to be fulfilling and rewarding.
I suppose those blasted Magpies will notice more activity in the spectator area; political fools will be hounded more closely; the Geelong bookshops will increase turnover, etc.
And I look forward to your continuing posts on your website.
With this mob in Canberra you really needed to concentrate on getting up lefties full time, what with the mountainous workload out there.
Good luck in retirement Bernie.
Plenty of golf balls to be hit, fish to catch, footy to watch, and grandkids to give back to Mum.
Enjoy the break Bernie. Hopefully means more time to work on your blog. All the best. Scott
Thanks, Scott. What’s happening in your world?
