The US Left, including the White House and most of the mainstream media, will need an Axminster the size of the MCG to sweep this under. They’ve got pretty big brooms, though.
Major Nidal Malik Hasan, a devout Muslim who was trying to buy his way out of the Army, was suspected of being the author of postings which compared suicide bombers to heroic soldiers who throw themselves onto grenades to save others.
It also emerged that Hasan, 39, had described the US Army as “the aggressor” in Iraq and Afghanistan and was resisting a planned deployment to Afghanistan, raising questions over whether the military missed warning signs which might have prevented the massacre.
The question many US veterans are asking is what state has the military deteriorated to when it requires a civilian police officer to stop an armed attack on an army base. Do they have armed guards? What’s that ? Don’t ask, don’t tell.
Are we heading in the same direction?
Yes, undoubtedly. The whole idea of defence forces, is course, passe now (from the average persons point of view, that is, in case the reader is an elite or caste member).
It seems authorities in the military were alerted to his extremist views – but because he was a Muslim – they didn’t want to take any formal action in case they got accused of being racist.
YMC is right on the money. All the deaths and woundings can be laid at the feet of the liberal left whose PC dictates prevented the authorities from action. Such action would have been “discriminatory” and the media would have worshipped the crazy killer.
At least the sad creep lived, and with skilled interrogation should prove useful.

They need them as translators. Eventually when they leave they’ll have a (re)trained counter terrorist force to carry on.
What is needed is disciplinary action against this particular form of “hate speech”. If a serviceman/woman said all gays should be shot, he/she would be booted out. The same standards should apply to wacko cavemen like Hasan.
No, they can have a sensible pragmatic no-PC policy whereby idiots who make traitorous comments and wish to inflict harm on their own citizens be set aside for counseling and probation, instead of being ignored because of their race, creed or color. BTW, people complained about Martin Bryant and that dickhead who went on a gun rampage at Monash Uni – but the authorities did nothing.
