Like most lefties, Bobby boy is not very bright. Surely assemblies based on one person, one vote, one value means the end of preferential voting? And the end of preferential voting means goodbye to the flyblown Greens.

Unlike you I was never employed by any group receiving funding from dictatorships like the Soviet Union. I never supported nor defended the murderous regimes of the former Soviet Bloc and indeed for that brief period whilst I was a member of Resistance I then still opposed Stalinism and the representatives of that ideology in Australia; your alma mater the Socialist Party of Australia.

So what happens if we won’t cop a carbon tax? We get sent to bed without any sweets?

Ms Gillard’s approval rating has plunged 22 points since February 24, when she announced plans to have a carbon tax.
Her disapproval is up 23 points to 62 per cent.
Yesterday she insisted the carbon tax was the right thing to do. “It’s the equivalent of saying ‘eat your vegetables’, I suppose,” she told Sydney radio.

Now here’s a case in which a medical centre did bury its mistake.

An intensive care patient at Parkridge Medical Center lost his dentures last week when a hospital employee mistakenly gave them to the family of a dead man who had occupied the same room.
Court records show that Kenneth Ray Manis, 76, died June 12 at Parkridge. His personal belongings — along with the dentures that weren’t his — were placed in a box inside the coffin at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Now Manis’ body is being exhumed after his family learned of the dentures and requested “that the personal belongings that don’t belong to the deceased be extracted from the coffin,” according to hospital spokeswoman Alison Counts.

This is reality. This is how it is. This is where all the overwhelming evidence points. So what kind of a bizarro, warped, intellectually challenged, cognitively dissonant, eco-fascistic nutcase would you have to be to think otherwise?

Matt Ridley exposes the contradictions thrown up by green activism:

Another policy is to bribe rich landowners to festoon the most picturesque landscapes with concrete pads on which are placed gargantuan steel towers topped with wind turbines containing two-tonne magnets made of an alloy of neodymium, a rare earth metal mined in inner Mongolia by a process of boiling in acid that produces poisoned lakes filled with mildly radioactive and toxic tailings.
The cost of this policy is borne by ordinary electricity users and their would-be employers. So far, the wind industry’s contribution to cutting carbon emissions is precisely zero, because it provides less than 0.5 per cent of world energy use and even that has to be offset by keeping fossil fuel plants running for when the wind does not blow.
Oh, and wind turbines have killed so many white-tailed eagles in Norway, wedge-tailed eagles in Tasmania and golden eagles in California that local populations of the species are in increased danger of extinction. And this is a green, “clean”, progressive policy?

There’s a lot of hoodwinking going on and if the suckers aren’t aware of it, how the hell did they get to a position of deciding public policy?

The next time some dopey council or half-baked academic claims piddle in a bottle or a pole wrapped in safety netting is art, refer them to this.

Greens have an almost puritanical zeal to change the world to what they see as a better place. Greg Melleuish notes this, too, in The Australian today.

The idea that it is the task of the government to improve the people who are entrusted to their care is very dangerous. Are people who do not eat meat or play the poker machines really better than those who do? Do we want the state to attempt to create a utopia of good people who have had their bad bits excised?
It is not surprising that wowserism should come to prominence again in tandem with the growing strength of the Greens. The Greens are the latest manifestation of a sort of moralistic puritanism that has been part of Australia since the First Fleet. Australians must change their evil ways. The Greens see themselves as the enforcers who will achieve that change, thereby leading the country into the sustainable utopia.

When The Age’s Michael Gordon punctuated a report on eminent Australians supporting a carbon tax with an inference that News Ltd papers were defying their owner’s climate position he was weaving comment into reportage.

Dame Elisabeth’s stand is consistent with the stated position on climate change of her son Rupert, but out of step with coverage in his newspapers, as reflected in the front pages of flagships The Australian and Herald Sun yesterday.
While The Australian splashed with a report saying a carbon tax would force eight coal mines to close and cost thousands of jobs, the Herald Sun ”revealed” that the carbon tax would push up the prices of Mars Bars and McDonald’s.

Gordon’s effort did not go unnoticed at News’ flagship which today launched a withering editorial attack on its competitor.

The story in Tuesday’s edition of The Australian to which Gordon referred, a front-page exclusive, detailed research commissioned by the coal industry showing a carbon tax could force mine closures and cost 4000 jobs. By claiming this report was “out of step” with the Murdochs’ support for a price on carbon, Gordon seems to suggest we should suppress the coal industry’s research and its point of view. Yet it is clear the industry’s fears are of legitimate public interest, as shown by the government’s negotiations to provide compensation, and the response to the story by Resources Minister Martin Ferguson, who said: “No one can rule out a mine or two closing.” For a newspaper to censor or deliberately avoid points of view, such as these, because they conflict with or undermine its own position would be a fundamental breach of trust. Fairfax editors must hold their readers in such low esteem that they will only share with them information that will help shape pre-determined opinions. What a deceptive manipulation of public discourse and an insult to the readers. What disregard for the essence of news and journalism.

A resounding “hear, hear” echoed across the nation today to Senator John Faulker’s damning appraisal of modern Labor’s drift to irrelevance.

“Now, we commission focus groups to find out not just what people think of what we say, but all too often, what we should be saying at all. There is, however, something deeply wrong when we use polling to determine our party’s policies and even our values,” he said.
“Labor must never forget that you do not earn the right to lead by perfecting the art of following.”
Senator Faulkner said voters wanted authenticity more than the appearance of harmony, and it was wrong to force MPs to “stay on message”.

Greg Sheridan laments that hysteria instead of pragmatism spurred the government decision to ban live cattle exports to Indonesia.

Mind you, part of the public reaction emerges from the general unfamiliarity with abattoirs of any kind. It would be interesting to screen footage from a supervised halal abattoir within Australia and see if people didn’t find that distressing as well.
Indonesia is a successful development story, but it is still a poor country. A lot of people don’t live that well in Indonesia. Naturally there will be some animal practices that we don’t like.
A halfway mature country, with any kind of awareness of its neighbours, would have responded constructively to help the Indonesians improve the situation.

Australia’s most widely read business writer hammers the Labor leadership for their filthy lies.

There was Julia herself at it again today using the term “carbon pollution” or variants no less than 23 times in one column. She managed an extraordinary six uses of the term in just two successive sentences.
We all know the utterly disgraceful game that you and she and the rest of your colleagues are playing – lying about “carbon pollution”, to create the impression your climate policy is designed to stop the emission of dirty bits of grit.
