Regardless of who forms government in Victoria, and it looks increasingly like it will be the Coalition, the best thing about the election result is the shellacking copped by that amalgam of old hippies, middle-class airheads and mad Marxists.

THE Greens failed to win a single lower house seat.

Andrew Bolt succinctly summarises the disastrous outcome for the Greens:

- This election could be the Greens’ retreat from Moscow, and not just in Victoria. They cockily speculated about winning four or even five seats, on the back of polls which a month ago had them pulling around 18 per cent of the vote. They finished with no seats, and less than 11 per cent of the vote. Worse, their hype has been exploded and momentum reversed. The Liberals’ strategy of putting them last on their how-to-vote cards pricked their balloon, as well as helped the Liberals define themselves better – and this will probably be a strategy now followed by Liberal parties around the country. Labor, having been wedged as too close to the Greens who actually threatened their seats, now sees the Greens’ menace more clearly, and will have more courage to take them on after this, too. Again, I think this other state Labor parties will now feel the same, and discuss putting the Greens last, too, to erase them from Parliament before they get too strong.

Loh blow   22/11/2010

Reckon this is a pretty strong indication of damaged goods:

She pegged it as her big “comeback” role, but unfortunately it’s emerged that Lindsay Lohan has now been dropped from playing the part of Linda Lovelace in a biopic about the pornstar called Inferno.

Good grief

Master of the deadpan and mate from way back Jack Lester reported at Saturday’s Station Hotel reunion that recently he’d been walking through a cemetery when he spied a swaggie type crouched behind a tombstone: “Morning,” said Jack. “Nah, just having a crap,” the dero replied.

Nice things to say in the Democratic Party:

Speaking to reporters Thursday, Democratic strategist James Carville dropped this one-liner: “If Hillary gave up one of her balls and gave it to Obama, he’d have two.”

IPCC Official: “Climate Policy Is Redistributing The World’s Wealth”
Climate policy has almost nothing to do anymore with environmental protection, says the German economist and IPCC official Ottmar Edenhofer. The next world climate summit in Cancun is actually an economy summit during which the distribution of the world’s resources will be negotiated.

One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with environmental policy anymore, with problems such as deforestation or the ozone hole.

Remember, all those years ago when Frank Sinatra caused a ruckus with sexist attitudes toward Australian journalists.
Well, it’s deja vu all over again.

GEELONG gal Portia DeGeneres has raised eyebrows for refusing to be interviewed by any Australian males.

Judicial jargon   16/11/2010

Someone’s been taking classes at the Kevin Rudd School of Speaking Gibberish:

“The Court of Appeal has recently made it very clear that the seriousness and prevalence of this type of offence mean that general deterrence and, when necessary, specific deterrence must be given primacy in the sentencing synthesis,” Justice Whelan said.

Somehow doubt whether the defendant took all that on board.

What an enlightened world we live in.

A PAKISTANI court has sentenced to death a Christian mother-of-five for blasphemy, the first such conviction of a woman and sparking protests from rights groups overnight.

This ticks a lot of boxes that should provoke leftist anger: a brutal form of capital punishment; extreme religious fundamentalism; denial of basic human rights; and savage persecution of a woman. But will our local lefties mass in the streets in outrage? Porcine Airways preparing to land.

Hoo-roo China   8/11/2010

About 200 people packed into Torquay Surf Life Saving Club at the weekend for a memorial service for surf legend China Gilbert, who died recently aged 86.
The Geelong Advertiser says that so far-reaching was China’s influence, even a former Prime Minister knew him.
“The story goes that he was sitting at the MCG and Bob Hawke came in and said ‘G’day Rex, how ya going?’,” close friend and club historian Ken Pollard said.
“People knew of him far and wide. That was the type of person he was.”
A champion in the water and on the football field, China won four Victorian longboard championships before transferring across to surfboats, where he won three Victorian championships.

Not even a pretence   7/11/2010

The utter arrogance of leftist media commentators at supposedly balanced outlets never ceases to surprise.

MSNBC has suspended prime-time host Keith Olbermann indefinitely without pay for contributing to the campaigns of three Democratic candidates this election season.
