For mine, this is Woman of the Year. It’s a pity more men from her part of the world aren’t prepared to echo her forceful wisdom. She is Arab-Amercian psychologist Wafa Sultan and the interview was screened on Al-Jazeera TV in the Middle East last year.
The west’s feminists should be demanding it be screened everywhere the veil and burqua are compulsory.
David Revelman called tonight with the sad, unexpected news that Charles Murton had died. Charles, master of the Diogenes Lamp blog and creator of the incomparable Bunny Champers, had been in a lengthy battle with cancer. He was a scholarly, witty and magnanimous chap and I regret we didn’t enjoy more of our irregular lunches in which the troubles of the times were healed amid many amusing reminiscences. He will be missed.
